Antique Literature Textbook - in Great Condition

Here's your chance to grab an antique copy of Elmer James Bailey's "The Novels Of George Meredith: A Study". It is, of course, and in-depth study of the content and style of one of the most important writers of the 19th century, if not all time. Written in 1907, this FIRST EDITION hardcover was published in 1908 and is a well-preserved state for its age.

As you can see from the photos below, this book has hardly seen any wear in the last century. That is, of course, if you don't count the numerous underlinings and margin-notes, hehe. These are in red and blue pen, but are generally like what you see in the pic below (ie: not too over-zealous!), and many pages are totally free of such violations. Oh, there is a signature on the first page, and the 1956 date obviously means a student picked it up in a second-hand bookshop that year and used it in class (or something like that).

Other than that, the pages are free of rips, creases, and stains. There has been basically no yellowing, and there is only faint spotting on the first and last couple of pages. There are a few tiny spots at the very edge of some pages, but basically the pages are clean, white, and lie nice and flat. The thick paper also feels fairly fresh still, which is amazing.

The cover of red cloth hasn't seen much wear at all, and all the gold titling is intact and shiny. The spine is in excellent health, and only in a few places throughout the book can you see a glimpse of the inner workings of the spine. However, the pages are held fast, and looking down on the book there is no separation between pages and spine. The last (blank) page has one of those weird reflective type stains, but that and the inside of the back cover only have faint, tiny spotting. The portrait and protective sheet of tissue have larger spots, but faint and yellow, and they still look quite fine (I just list all faults for your benefit!). However, besides, that the glossy portrait page certainly doesn't look a century old, and the tissue is flat and totally without wear!

This item is a must for literature buffs and antique book collectors, and it's going cheap, so hurry up and grab it before someone else beats you to it!
