1906 "Essays Of Joseph Addison" Hardcover

In Great Condition for a Book of this Antiquity!

Attention collectors of great literary works and antiques alike: Up for grabs is this extremely rare hardcover featuring the collected works of Joseph Addison. Originally printed in 1880, this 12th edition was printed by MacMillan & Co (London) in 1906, and features a wealth of essays under various chapters (for example, 11 essays - like "Sir Roger and the Witches" - are found under "Sir Roger of Coverley").

This book is in surprisingly good condition for its antiquity, with even the sheet of rice paper over the title page still intact and unharmed! As you can see from the many pics below, the only "flaw" is that many of the almost 400 pages have little notes scribbled in the margins and passages underlined, etc (which many of us collectors don't mind too much as it gives extra character to the book). Obviously this book was used by a university student nearly 100 years ago!

The cover has had very little wear over the last century, and the gold leaf pressed into the cover and spine still has plenty of shine. The pages - made of a slightly-glossy grade of paper - are all intact, and free of stains, mildew spots and creases. There has been next to no yellowing, and the only rips are jagged side edges of some pages (which I honestly only just noticed, as the book is one of those ancient ones that was bound with uneven pages, which I assume was the fashion back then).

This book - a must for collectors of great literature - is going out cheap, so hurry up and grab it before someone else beats you to it!
