Up for grabs is this antique hardcover copy of "MODERN ENGLISH ESSAYS 1870-1920 Vol. 5". This 1st edition was published by J.M Dent & Sons Ltd (London) in 1922, and is edited by Ernest Rhys. It features works from the likes of Walter Bagehot, A. A. Milne, H. J. Massingham, and many others, and has survived the last 81 years very well indeed. As you can see from the photos below, flaws are minor (and basically all on the cover), and the pages are are almost mint in condition! The cover is still sturdy and looks great, with only some faded spots on the bottom corner of the front, and a few smaller ones on the back. There has been very little actual surface wear otherwise, and the edges are the same (except for a tiny bit on the corners). The spine is a bit faded, and has a bit of fraying on the top, but it is nonetheless intact (with no splits) and is doing its job of holding everything together very well. All 255 pages are not only intact, but free of the usual flaws. There are no rips, creases, stains, scribbles, defacements, or mildew spots, and even the insides of the covers are clean. There has been basically no yellowing in all this time, the pages lie nice and flat, and there are no gaps between pages or anything like that.Like I said, this books is in great condition,
and is a must for collectors of antique books and admirers of classic literature
alike. This item is going out cheap,
so hurry up and grab it before someone else beats you to it!
